Pilates is not a mindless, repetitive workout. When doing Pilates exercises, it's not what you do, but how you do it. The emphasis is on your form, so you need a certain presence of mind. The "body - mind" connection.

Pilates teaches you how to be in your body and properly sit and stand, bend and lift, and move from the center of the body. This increased body awareness and core strength help to improve form in other sports as well and to bring more grace and efficiency to everyday life activities. People who bring focus and mental presence to their workouts advance more quickly through the exercises and see improvements more readily. Like dance, Pilates demands that your body perform many actions at once. A movement is never just a movement; you must execute it with optimal form, precision, and control. Each person has the potential to reach his or her own level of perfection. Achieving this goal requires focus and attention.
